Counsellor and Psycotherapist

Guiding You Toward Emotional Wholeness

With over two decades of dedicated practice, I help individuals and couples reclaim the lost parts of themselves and find their authentic path forward. My approach combines deep analytical insight with compassionate guidance, creating a safe space where transformation becomes possible.

My Journey

My journey as a therapist began with a passion for understanding the human mind and the complex dynamics of relationships. This led me to complete:

  • A Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy (M.Soc Sc) with specialization in Couple and Family Therapy

  • Advanced 3 year post graduate training at the International Psychoanalytic Masterson Institute in New York

  • A Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology

  • A Bachelor of Social Work

As an accredited Mental Health Social Worker, my services qualify for Medicare rebates, making quality therapy more accessible to those who need it.

Recognition & Current Work

I’m honored to have received the 2023 Quality Business Award for Best Counselling Service and to be recognized among the top counselling blogs by Feedspot. These acknowledgments reflect my commitment to excellence in both clinical practice and educational outreach.

I’m currently writing a book exploring the fascinating ways couples unconsciously connect through their wounds—how we often seek partners to heal the disowned parts of ourselves. This work examines how our earliest relationship templates shape our adult connections, and how to build whole, fulfilling relationships.

My Approach: The Masterson Method

I intergrate a range of approaches such as cogntive behavioural therapy and internal family systems. I discovered that the client issues will come back, without resolving the underlying issues at a deep intra-pschyic level, and this inspired my psychoanalytic training. My therapeutic practice is grounded in the Psychoanalytic Masterson approach—an object relations, self-psychology, and attachment-based method developed by pioneering psychiatrist Dr. James Masterson.

This approach is particularly effective because it:

  • Addresses the root causes of emotional difficulties rather than just managing symptoms

  • Aims to heal the wounded parts of the self

  • Strengthens the authentic self, instead of unconsciously re-enacting patterns

  • Overcome areas of arrested development in the self

  • Identifies and transforms defensive behaviors that prevent personal growth

  • Creates lasting change by working through underlying emotions

  • Builds capacity for stability in work, relationships, and personal fulfillment

My Philosophy

I believe that we all develop coping mechanisms early in life to protect ourselves from emotional pain. While these defenses once served us, they often become obstacles to living fully as adults.

The healing journey involves recognizing these patterns, facing the emotions we’ve avoided, and developing new ways of relating to ourselves and others. When we can stop looking for what we didn’t receive in childhood and heal these wounded parts, we become capable of forming whole, healthy relationships.

My commitment is to walk alongside you through this process—helping you overcome the self-perpetuating obstacles that hold you back and guiding you toward a more authentic, fulfilling life where your true self can flourish.
